Michaela Baldwin is an interdisciplinary artist and communications designer, born and raised in West Point, Mississippi. She began her journey as a self-taught artist in 2019. Since childhood, her exploration of creativity began with crafting through sewing, crochet, and jewelry making. Her practice investigates the relationships between memory, power, and culture. This takes place by paying attention to structures that form our view of how we understand ourselves and others. Through painting, drawing, design, writing, and material exploration, she explores the intersection of personal experience, and larger social & cultural forces.
My mission is to share transformative acts in real time without perfection or contempt, to create a space that holds emotional truth, not performance; to build bodies of work that document the taboo: grief, rage, softness, surrender.
